Kurgans and Winds

"Nothing truly disappears until it is deliberately remembered."

2025, photography and installation, triptych, 3 panels, each 42 × 59.4 cm, fabric, metal, acrylic, glue.

I was born in the Kherson region, on the land of burial mounds, Scythian gold, winds and seas.In my childhood, when my father, my brother and I drove past hills, he would say that these were burial mounds where treasures had once been hidden. For me it sounded simple and at the same time slightly like a fairy tale. Now I recreate in my imagination the shapes of Scythian artefacts stolen by Russia from Kherson museums before the war and during the occupation, and I translate them into new forms, gestures and actions.I create my own contemporary imagined Scythia, where the stolen identity is assembled again. For me, every art object is a small act of resistance, and every surface is another map of memory
