"Future"
2018, discarded plastic, adhesive tape
I created "Future" in 2018 using discarded plastic and adhesive tape to challenge our perception of clothing and its environmental impact. My inspiration came from observing how increasingly difficult it is to find clothes without synthetic materials. This led me to imagine a future where our garments are made entirely of plastic.By crafting this wearable piece from waste materials, I aimed to provoke thought about our reliance on synthetics and the growing issue of plastic pollution. The artwork serves as a visual representation of where our current fashion trends might lead us if we don't change course.I chose to use adhesive tape alongside plastic waste to demonstrate how everyday materials can be repurposed in creative ways. This technique not only showcases the potential for recycling but also blurs the line between sculpture and fashion design.Through "Future," I hope to encourage viewers to reconsider their consumption habits and the long-term effects of our choices on the environment. It's my call to action, urging us to seek more sustainable solutions in fashion and our daily lives. By presenting this stark vision of a possible future, I aim to inspire change and promote innovative thinking in how we approach clothing and waste management.
